IFS Therapist in San Diego
Find your authentic self through Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy
Have you ever felt like you're at war with yourself?
One part of you is a fierce critic, pushing you to be perfect, while another part feels exhausted and just wants to hide.
One part might feel a deep sense of shame or sadness, while another works tirelessly to keep that pain from surfacing.
If this sounds familiar, you're not alone, and you're not broken; you're human.
For years, I’ve been fascinated by this inner world, both in my clients and in myself. My journey led me to Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy for clients throughout San Diego. As a licensed therapist in California, I can also meet with clients online who live anywhere in California for this transformative type of therapy.
What is Internal Family Systems therapy? (IFS)
In our everyday lives, we're often taught to fight against the parts of ourselves we don't like—to silence the inner critic or push away the anxiety. IFS offers a revolutionary, more compassionate path.
It views your mind as an internal family, made up of many different "parts." None of these parts are bad; every single one has a positive intention and is trying to help you, even if their methods are causing you pain.
Together, we'll get to know your inner world with curiosity, not judgment.
Your Protective Parts: We'll meet the parts that manage your daily life. This might be a "perfectionist" part that keeps you achieving, or a "people-pleaser" part that works to keep you safe in relationships. We’ll honor the hard work they’ve been doing for you.
Your Wounded Parts: We’ll also gently connect with the younger, more vulnerable parts that carry the burdens of past experiences—the parts that hold feelings of shame, loneliness, or fear.
Your Core Self: The most beautiful part of my job is helping you reconnect with your core Self. In IFS, the Self is not something you have to build; it's the calm, curious, compassionate essence of who you already are. It's the natural leader of your inner system.
As a San Diego IFS therapist, my role is to be your guide in this process. I'll help you create a safe space inside yourself so you can listen to your parts, understand their stories, and heal the burdens they've been carrying for so long.
When your parts feel seen and understood by your Self, they can finally relax their extreme roles, leading to a profound sense of inner harmony and peace.
IFS therapy can be incredibly effective for people who are used to being in control but feel like they're losing the battle on the inside. It's particularly powerful if you:
Struggle with a harsh inner critic or intense perfectionism.
Feel stuck in cycles of anxiety, shame, or self-doubt.
Have experienced trauma and find it difficult to feel safe in your own body.
Want to move beyond just managing symptoms and heal at the root cause.
