Meet Denver IFS & trauma therapist
Allie Evans, LMFT
Whether you’re feeling hurt, stuck, or alone, there’s a path back to yourself.
The most important part of therapy is the relationship we build together. My favorite part of being a therapist here in Denver is witnessing the unique resilience of each person as they unpack the stories that have brought them here.
Choosing to start this journey takes courage, and I deeply respect your commitment to doing this work, and the work we can do together.
Whether you're looking for a new therapist in Denver or are just beginning your search to see if therapy is right for you, I appreciate you considering me to be the person who walks beside you.
When the same painful patterns keep showing up in your life—whether it's anxiety that won’t stop, a challenging inner critic, or a feeling of being disconnected from your own life—it's often a signal that something deeper is asking for attention.
Many of the struggles we face as adults begin in early relationships, when we may have felt like we were "too much" or "not enough." To stay connected and safe, we learned to tuck away parts of our authentic selves.
Over time, we might learn to seek validation through behaviors like perfectionism, people-pleasing, or overachieving. These strategies once helped you get through hard things, but now they may feel limiting or completely exhausting.
As your therapist, I'll help you understand the ways you've learned to protect yourself. Together, we'll help your nervous system settle, explore new ways to cope, and grow your self-compassion—so you can show up in your life trusting that you are enough, and that your authentic self is worthy of taking up space.
Using evidence-based methods for healing trauma stored in the mind and body, we'll explore the deeper emotional experiences that live beneath the surface. My approach integrates:
Together, we'll work toward a stronger sense of self—one that helps you turn inward for guidance, rather than relying on who the world says you need to be.
My approach to therapy
A therapist for your whole self
As a Denver trauma therapist, my work focuses on the deep, lasting impact of distressing events. Trauma often isn't just a big, single event; it can be the result of ongoing experiences of neglect, criticism, or disconnection. We'll work to gently process these wounds so they no longer define who you feel like you are today.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): This is a powerful, evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories. Instead of being stuck in the past, EMDR allows you to move through and beyond old hurts, reducing the intensity of flashbacks, triggers, and the negative beliefs that stem from them.
Internal Family Systems (IFS): This is a compassionate approach that views your mind as a family of "parts." There's the part of you that is anxious, the part that's a people-pleaser, and a core self at the center that is calm, compassionate, and wise.
Somatic Therapy: This approach recognizes that your body holds the story of your past. We'll work with the sensations in your body to release stored stress and trauma. Instead of just talking about your pain, we'll engage your body's innate wisdom to help your nervous system find a deep sense of safety.
